I live in Oakland, CA.
You can reach me at dan@danmcardle.org
If you really want to see it, I do have a resume (PDF).
My personal mission is to do what I can to make sure the Internet stays free, and people are able to exercise their First Amendment rights. I also really like cats and vim.
OpenAMD: I'm the primary project manager on the Attendee Meta-Data project. It's a real time location tracking social networking system built on active-RFID. We've deployed in New York City, Berlin, Brussels, and several other places.
Noisetor: I worked with the EFF to help draft the framework for the Noisetor project, for which I'm an "evangelist". Donate money to Noisebridge, and we'll set up Tor exit nodes for you.
Hackers On Planet Earth: I'm on the core staff of the HOPE conference, a biennial hacker gathering held by 2600 Magazine in New York City. Next conference is HOPE Number Nine!
Technocracy Live: I started and host a weekly radio show on technology and democracy. Topics have included WikiLeaks, Anonymous, BART cellphone shutdown, SOPA, and of course, Occupy Wall Street.
OccupySF Wiki: I maintain the OccupySF wiki page. And no, I can't tell you where the movement is headed. I just believe in free speech.
Legal Observer: I'm a volunteer legal observer working with the National Lawyers Guild. If you're interested in activism, you should volunteer!
Burning Man: I've been to the playa three times, and worked on several cool art projects.
Five Minutes of Fame: the monthly lightning talk variety show at Noisebridge. I started the event and ran it for two years, passing the torch in December 2010. I helped it become the largest event at Noisebridge, frequently pulling in a crowd north of 100 people.
DanceSafe: I've been a volunteer with the drug harm reduction organization for more than 7 years. You may have seen us doing pill testing at raves.
